ReplyDeleteAfter I finisfed exibition in the first day, it help me to know problem of my group. My topid is High context and Low context communication. We had some mistake on board. We sticked Low power distance in High centext and High power distance in Low context that they are wrong. After we presented to Aj. Rachial, she asked us about this mistake ane we had already changed it and sorry to her. For about, the clip that we use to show the example of my topic, all of teachers liked it and said that it is easily to understand the differences of High and Low context communition. Some teacher suggested that they do not clear about the topic at the frist explanation but they are very clear after we show the example from the movie. This after is the final time of exhibition. I will do it the best(*_*)..................

ReplyDeleteFirstly, I have to say thank you for giving us a chance to present what we are interested from the lecture in the class, and to show our abilities to give knowledges to others.
After me and my friends finished the presentation, we got many comments from teachers. Some teachers said that, when they first saw our board, and pictures, they didn't understand what we wanted to say, but after we explained they quite understand our topic (Thai Gay Men I dentities). Somes said that each identities of Thai Gay Men quite less connection on the first day of the persentation, so on the second day, we had fixed our explaination to make them understand.
I think this activity was so challenge us, for example when some teacher askes us questions that we didn't prepare for, and we had to help each other to answer those questions. ^^

My topic is power distance and effect to mitigated speech. The topic is quite clear because this situation can occurs in every day life and close with us. I am not only give the knowledge to my friends and my teachers, but also I gain new knnowledge from them as well. Therefore, I think this exhibition is sucessful. Besides, the thing that difficult for me is to find and invite the teachers because someone don't have free-time for me so, it will use a long time to find and invite teachers as the advisors in my exhibition.
In a whole picture, I think I gain new experiences and new knowledge from this exhibition, and I think this exhibition has more useful for me also.

My topic is kinesics of Khon. Actually, kinesics is seemed to be the way to communication by using only body movement or gestures. Then Knon is exquisite Thai masked dance which are directly to the topic of kinesics. Then each character will use gestures to express their feeling and emotion without speak out. After I had finished this work, I really enjoy present my friends about our topic. Then I, myself got too many knowledge about history of Khon which is refer to Ramayana. Although,there are same feeling and emotion, the gestures of each character is different.

For the exhibition, I'm pretty satisfied with what our group has done for the project. Though our board didn't provide the pictures perfectly, we did great in explaining the nonverbal codes through costumes used in the era of Lanna to indicate the distances of power women had differently. I'm glad that many lecturers were surprised and interested in our topic and they left us positive comments. I had a good time sharing this thing not only with the instructors but also my classmates. I learned from them a lot and so did people. The atmosphere wasn't tight at all. People were getting excited to show their works and to listen to others as well. This week was a busy-rushing week but I think we all got through the exhibition quite well.
The audience seemed to understand us about the concept of the power distance that happened in Lanna era. More or less, I think people gained more knowledge about the non verbal codes of Lanna costumes. They might see the differences of how culture has influenced northern people and how culture has changed dramatically from the past. Our topic also reflects how Lanna culture classified women's social statuses to shape the intercommunication within the society.
It was good that the exhibition got me the opportunity to build up my confidence even though there were a few mistakes about the speech and the board. The outcome is still beyond my expectation. Anyway, thank you for your guidance for the project.

ReplyDeleteNow, I have already finished the exhibition. I got many things from this work. I am very glad after I feel tried for many days and I thing that you may feel like me as well.
I learn new information and new knowledge in my topic from many teachers who came to visit my group. Some teachers who are Asian people think that they use Low Context Communication in daily life and some teachers who are European people use High Context Communication as well. I thing that it happens because of cross
culture. It means that they try to mix both of them together. It depends on both of situations and each people. One of Chinese teacher said that “I am not High context person but I am Low context” and he explained that they lived in America for along time. I think that this is one effect of cross culture. Another one teacher told me that if we mix it together and try to understand them, we will have a good communication and understand each other. However, I am very happy with this exhibition!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI’m passed for two days presentation of my exhibition. I think in my group was done for making the job. My topic is power distance and effect to mitigated speech. The reason we choose this topic because we’re interesting and it is directing with our life. And in the present, we live and work with people in different status also. So, we would like to show our cultural identity and effect from it.
I’m totally doing it for making perfect job. While, I’m presenting, I find some mistakes on board from comments of teachers and friends. After that I’m editing mistakes for improving it to be better.
Not only is my sharing useful for other people but also I get more knowledge and feedback after I do my exhibition.

Oh! Our exhibition has done. Our group is quite satisfied with it including me. The atmosphere was relax and not uncomfortable. Our group has a little bit problems about board but finally it is okay. I gain more experiences and knowledge a lot from instructors and friends. I think it is a good opportunity that we can learn from outside the class. ReplyDeleteMy group presented about Non-verbal codes of Thai sodier. The presentation was good because everyone who has join the exhibition shared the ideas and experiences.
Mostly, I've found that foreign teachers were shocked about the hight of Thai sodiers(1.46m is okay to be Thai sodier) because Europeans and Americans are taller.
One interesting question was about the power distance between Thai government officers(Sodiers) and normal people.
Does the way sodier act effect other people?, one teacher asked
She told me that it does effect to people status; for example, if people see the sodiers people would feel like they are 'higher'.
Yes, it might be.
But, I personally think that it depends on each person or another facters(age, occupation, gender, education etc.)
......Anyway, high power distance easily happens in Thai culture because most of Thai people still believe that government officers are lofty. ~

It was a very good experience for me to have chances to discuss with teachers and classmates. I've heard many interesting ideas from the others' point of view especially from the teachers. We also share our thoughts and feelings. I think it helped us a lot to know and understand each others better. Thank you to Aj. Matthew and other teachers. About our group presentation, we found some problem about explaination in some technical terms. We needed a little bit more time to make it clear to them. We were trying to choose words wisely to make sure that it was appropriate and didn't discriminate or blame specificly on anybody because culture has high complexity. I think we did quite well and I'm glad that we have a great opportunity to share our experience.

Both day are different but the objective of two day are the same. However, we explained this problem for everyone in the second day. And we are so sorry that we cannot answer your question.
In the exhibition, some people did not know the information about the meaning of flower in the Wai Kru ceremony. I think they took an interest about it. I think our topic show about the Thai ceremony and Thai culture which has an affect for Thai students and Teachers. Thailand is a high power distant between Thai students and Teacher. It is very difficult for them when they communicate.

Oh!!! For this week I am really proud to present my exhibition, my topic is about the virginity for Thai woman in Thai society. After The first day of my exhibition there are a little bit mistakes about board that use for presenting. It because of some teacher whose visit my exhibition found some mistakes that occurred on board. However, this thing does not make me stress so much because I understand that our group might do something mistake or misunderstanding. ReplyDeleteI enjoyed doing the exhibition. It was a great exhibition. I shared and exchanged knowledge and opinions to teachers that came to the exhibition.
My group presented University student uniform fashion that affects communication.
On Tuesday presentation, I made many mistakes and these were comments from a teacher: the presentation should be more clearly in introduction part, the presenter should identify communication and student uniforms, how they related.
I was very excited and nervous on that day, so I did unclear presentation. I really liked comments from teachers because I could know what I should improve for the next day.
On Thursday presentation, I think, I did the better presentation. I learnt from the first day exhibition that I should edit wrong word spelling, make a briefly and more clearer presentation.
I think, a question that quite difficult for us to answer, why did students still wearing uniforms in Thailand? Personally, I think, uniform should be cut off because it has no meanings. Studying does not depend on uniform or clothing that students wear.
This topic is still debating, no right, and no wrong. It bases on the reasons, different people different views. It is good for us to think about it right?
Again, I liked doing the exhibition, it was good for me to exchange my opinions to other teachers and friends about who and why we are.

My topic is about the Proxemics and Power Distance in Thai society.
We have a game to make clear about our topic. It's very fun. The teachers like our game and we have the Proxemics Candy for the participation also. My friends and I attend to do this exhibition very much because we know that the knowledge that we are going to recieve are very useful.
We can learn the other culture form many teachers to share the experiences. That's very awesome. I can learn many cultures like I'm going aboard.

and they said it was good presentation and "No question, it's clear". Moreover, they joined in our exhibition, shared the ideas and experiences in their country.
In exhibition, I've found that foreign teachers were shocked about the hight of Thai soldiers. They thought it's too short for them but in Thai it's ok. Furthermore, I found one question that our group could not explain very well in English.He asked "What is the higher position than general?" ReplyDeleteMany invitees try to shared experience and their attitude toward our topic. Our topic is "uncertainty avoidance", to talk about the way that Thais acts to foreigners.
In my point, I love this activity because I can shared the knowledge and gain more knowledge form each invitees or my friends. I see some topic is very interesting and they have a very great example which relate to their topic. Such as Luck's topic which talk about "race, stereotype, and communication". His example is very easy to understand and respond to his topic.
We had shared and gain more knowledge form this exhibition.

ReplyDeleteLast exhibition was very beneficial for me. I had learned from my working and other people outside. I got something outside the books. That made me interested and wanted to improve my mistake next time. One thing I learned that was the way to make other people understand the contents which I presented. Sometimes, it’s difficult to do and explain. There were some problems such as the different culture was difficult to understand why they were or did like that. Some topics were not natural in reality like some parts of individualism and collectivism.
However, this exhibition gave me many things I had shared ideas, opinions and explicit knowledge. Thank you for a good opportunity and comments

ReplyDeleteFirstly, I have to say that I so happy with exhibition. Everything so wonderful and it makes me love about presentation much more.
Last exhibition, it is good experience for me. It makes me know how to do exhibition and how to solve a problem in group. Important thing, it help me to practice my English skill in speaking and listening much more. I can said that this exhibition help me a lot. I and my friends do a work hard. Sometimes we angry each other or sometimes I disagree with their idea or sometimes they disagree with my idea. Moreover, we learn to solve a problem and learn to forgive between us, thank you exhibition.

ReplyDeleteI prepared for the exhibition for a month and I did it well. Fisrtly, I think that I cannot do it because I am so excited that many teacher and many people came to listen to us show the exhibition. Then, I feel free to express my idea on the exhibition and I think it is ok. My friends and I are hard-working and we appriciate our exhibition. Anyway, i'm very happy to do that because I have freedom.

My group is the kinesics of khon or Thai marsked dance. The

khon to show its feeling and emotion without speaking. i really
enjoy with this exhibition. At first, i think the exhibition may make
me so stress but in the opposite way, i feel very happy and fun
with it. i got a lot of comments from teachers and my friends

ReplyDeleteFirstly, I admit to say that I'm not come to comment on your ccc blog for long time. It is not a good behavior. This is the first time for me again and I will follow another next blog until the latest.
For an exhibition, my group worked about Thai gays, how do their communication and identity. The most of visitors including many lecturers asked the questions about this topic. We could answer most of it, and it made me thought that it my group quite not clear of something. On that day, I excited so much and try to remembered the information and explained it. It made me knew about my speaking skill is so weak and lack of confidence. I try to did my duty as much as I can because It was not only me ,but it was a team work. This exhibition is valuable experience for me and I will try to develop about presentation in the next time.
I think your comment it so good for me because it will improve and develop my work. This work has some thing to difficulties. First thing, it has difficulte vocubbulary but it is benefit with me because it will help me to know new vocubbulary. Second thing, it is presentation because I think explain for other one understand it so difficulte.
